Calf augmentation implants are either made as two separate implants, or as one-piece implants. Having two implants creates a more natural look for the results, but one-piece calf augmentation implants can be used for reconstruction surgeries.

Why must I prevent straining the calf area after calf augmentation surgery?

After your calf augmentation surgery, it is important that you do not strain or stretch the calf area for a few weeks. After the surgery, it is suggested that you either use a wheelchair, or shoes or boots with 1 to 2 inch heels so that the muscles are as relaxed as possible.

Stretching or straining the calf muscles after calf augmentation can alter the shape of the implant pocket, giving you an unnatural looking result. Also, stretching the area could open the incision area or break the implant pocket, increasing scarring or chances of infection.
