Over time, your breasts may begin to sag and the areola becomes larger. A breast lift can improve the shape of your breasts and the position of the nipple. A breast lift is intended to give the patient an elevated, more youthful breast contour, as well as nipple-areolar complexes of the desired size and height. A breast lift, also referred to as mastopexy, can give you more healthy, perky breasts.

It is important that women considering a breast lift have realistic expectations. A breast lift is a good option for women with small, sagging breasts. The results of a breast lift will not last as long for women with large breasts. This is why many women choose to undergo a breast reduction when they get a breast lift.

However, many other patients choose to have breast augmentation surgery in conjunction with their breast lift. This enables the patient to reconstruct their breasts and give them large, well-sculpted, healthy-looking breasts.

The design of the incisions can vary but usually include incisions around the nipple-areolar complex and hidden under the breast. The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a more normal position. Sometimes a breast implant is placed at the same time to further improve the final shape of the breast.

The patient goes home with only light dressings over the incision lines. Dr. Hendricks will use dissolving sutures that do not need to be removed.
