Newport Beach – Orange County – California

Breast Reduction Photo GalleryRanked among the highest procedures in patient satisfaction, breast reduction surgery is a simple way to change your life for the better. Large breasts can limit your clothing options, cause social discomfort, and even interfere with your ability to participate in certain activities. Large, disproportionate breasts can also lead to myriad health concerns including neck, shoulder and back strain, leading to long-term pain, discomfort, and physical challenges.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Hendricks will review with you your ideal breast size, and help you understand what results you can expect. Please contact Dr. Hendricks to find out more about breast reduction surgery.

Breast Reduction Procedure

  • Breast reduction requires three incisions, one around your areola, another from your areola to the curve underneath your breast, and a third along the natural crease underneath your breast.
  • Excess breast tissue, fat, and skin will be removed from the breasts, and the nipple and areola are shifted to a higher position.
  • Areolas are also often reduced in size, as large breasts tend to stretch the areola to a size that is unappealing on smaller breasts.
  • Excess skin is then brought down and stitched together to contour the breast.

Breast Reduction Recovery

Immediately following your surgery, a dressing will be placed around the breasts. A surgical drain may also be placed to drain excess fluid. Both the dressing and the drain will be removed after a few days.

After that period, a support bra will be recommended until the swelling associated with surgery subsides. This usually takes about two weeks. Sleeping on your back until the breasts have healed, and avoiding strenuous physical activities is recommended for the first few weeks. The appearance of scars will naturally fade over time, leaving you beautiful breasts ideally suited to your body.

Potential Risks of Breast Reduction Surgery

All surgeries come with some risks. Dr. Hendricks will ensure the safest possible surgery, but unforeseen complications can arise. Common risks include excessive bleeding, infection along the incision, and reactions to the anesthesia. In some cases, nipple sensation can be diminished, but because breast reduction surgery does not require the nipple o be removed from the underlying tissue, loss of sensation and the inability to breast feed are extremely rare.

Breast Reduction surgery is a safe, effective way to achieve the body you’ve always dreamed of.
