LASER RESURFACING FOR SKIN & WRINKLE TREATMENT

Lasers are powerful tools that have been used successfully in all walks of medicine. Lasers are very useful in removing thin layers of sun-damaged or aged skin, brown spots and spider veins. The depth of the laser resurfacing treatment can be carefully chosen by increasing or decreasing the power. In this way, areas of the face with thin skin such as the eyelids can be treated with very low power, while the thicker skin of the nose and the chin can be treated with slightly more power and greater effect.

Sun damage and age and heredity will all contribute to the development of fine skin wrinkles. These types of wrinkles do not respond well to facelift. Fine lines around the lips are called "smokers lines". These lines may be associated with smoking but are also the result of sun damage and aging.

After laser resurfacing treatment, wrinkles are decreased and the skin is tightened.

LASERS FOR SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT

Spider veins on the leg usually appear in one of several patterns. They may be simple and linear, or spider-like.

Before treatment, spider veins are quite noticeable, contrasting sharply with the surrounding skin. Lasers that target the blood vessel wall without damaging the overlying skin are used to cause the small thread-like veins to clot. After the treatment, the body slowly dissolves the veins.

One month after the first treatment spider veins are distinctly lessened.
