LIPOSUCTION

Liposuction is a common procedure for both women and men. Women may have liposuction performed under their chin, on their hips, thighs, and stomach, as well as in the underarm and breast area. For men, common sites include under the chin and around the waist. Liposuction may also be used in the reduction of enlarged male breasts, a condition known as gynecomastia.

Because bodily fluids are also lost during the liposuction procedure, you will be administered fluids intravenously and this will be closely monitored.

A snug compression garment worn after surgery helps reduce swelling. It is important to note that you will not see the full results immediately. Improvement will become apparent after about six weeks when most of the swelling has subsided. As healing progresses, a more proportional look will emerge. You may also need to wear an elastic garment for a few weeks. This will help reduce swelling as well as supporting your body to take its new shape.
